The Cross Cultural Center (CCC) supports and advocates for the institutional goal of campus diversity and multicultural community; provides a safe space that fosters understanding of and appreciation for the many cultures, traditions, and histories reflected in the campus community; provides educational opportunities focusing on diversity and sponsors multicultural arts and educational programs; develops and funds opportunities for students to enhance their leadership potential. Using the two centers, one department model, the CCC serves as a sister center to the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource center.
Responsibilities: Serves as the principal administrative support person for the Cross Cultural Center. Provides analytical/administrative support to the Director; coordinates the business and administrative functions for the center, including reception, payroll, purchasing, etc.; coordinates an annual budget of $200,000 and advises the Director regarding fiscal issues; assists in the recruitment, hiring, scheduling, and training of student interns; drafts reports and correspondence as needed.
Requirements: Organizational skills to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous projects, distribute effort appropriately among the projects, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of productivity in a high traffic environment with frequent interruptions. Accounting experience and knowledge of electronic financial information and payroll systems. Knowledge of the UCD financial Information System (DaFIS) and the University Payroll/Personnel System (PPS) are preferred. Awareness of and sensitivity to the specific concerns and issues of underrepresented, marginalized and underserved student communities. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with individuals of varying ages and cultural backgrounds and perspectives. Ability to understand, interpret, explain, and implement University policies and procedures. Ability to maintain security of confidential information. Good interpersonal skills to exercise judgment and diplomacy in handling sensitive or confidential information or situations. Computer skills to utilize various programs and software for word-processing, scheduling, web update, email, spreadsheets and database management programs. Analytical skills to anticipate/identify problems compare data to draw conclusions develop goals/plans for resolution and implementation. Writing skills to prepare accurate and readable correspondence, minutes, and emails and to proofread and correct drafts for grammar, syntax, punctuation, and spelling. Special Conditions of Employment: This position is a critical position and subject to a background check.
